LittlePINKBook.com, the digital platform for career women, hosted its 8th Annual Fall Empowerment Event on November 13. More than 300 professional women attended the luncheon event, at the Atlanta History Center, along with more than 550 unique viewers joining via live stream. Some viewers planned gatherings of 50 or more women and leveraged the event to enhance their own business and networking meetings in cities across the globe.

North Fulton Chamber joins RUMC Job Networking Program

ROSWELL, Ga. -- Roswell United Methodist Church has joined forces with the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce (GNFCC) to lower the unemployment rate in Fulton County.

GNFCC president and CEO Brandon Beach announced Wednesday that the RUMC Job Networking Program, which was created 24 years ago, has partnered with the chamber.

"This alliance is a great example of how organizations can collaborate to address the needs of the community," Al Nash, executive director of Progress Partners North Fulton Atlanta, said in a statement. "It's important to our economic development strategy that we have a vehicle to match up qualified candidates with jobs that are being generated in North Fulton."

The chamber is encouraging local businesses with job openings to send information to the Job Networking Program.

North Fulton Chamber hosts forum on Connect 400

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce hosted a breakfast forum last week for regional transportation leaders to discuss MARTA's Connect 400 Transit Initiative.

About 90 people attended the forum. Attendees included business and community leaders in the GA 400 corridor, according to Chamber spokeswoman Debbie Ryals.

Connect 400 is an 18-month study that covers GA 400 from northbound Interstate 285 to McGinnis Ferry Road in Johns Creek.

"This study is a huge step toward advancing exploration of new transportation alternatives in this market," Ann Hanlon, COO of the North Fulton Community Improvement District, said in a statement.

Rylas said Connect 400 will identify the GA 400 corridor's needs and look at alternatives that will allow smoother sailing for all drivers. The Chamber's forum gathered input about the corridor's transportation needs from the local leaders in attendance.

CaraVita founder named Small Business Person of the Year

CaraVita founder named Small Business Person of the Year

ROSWELL, Ga. -- Beth Cayce is the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Person of the Year.

The honor is awarded annually to the most outstanding business executive in North Fulton County.

Cayce is the founder and CEO of CavaVita Home Care in Roswell. CaraVita provides in-home care services for more than 16,000 seniors in metro Atlanta, according to the chamber.

"I am honored to be named Small Business Person of the Year by the GNFCC and consider the award a reflection of the excellent work of my entire team," Cayce said after receiving her honor. "For CaraVita, the goal has always been to help the families of Roswell and north metro Atlanta meet the challenges of caregiving. We've worked tirelessly to help seniors achieve and maintain independence wherever possible."

Cayce received the award during the chamber's August Eggs & Enterprise breakfast.

Small Business Administration offers drought aid

Small Business Administration offers drought aid

ATLANTA -- The U.S. Small Business Administration announced Monday that it will accept applications for loan assistance for Georgia enterprises in 12 counties affected by the drought.

The aid program targets farm-related and other entities not covered by aid from the Department of Agriculture.

The eligible counties are Banks, Barrow, Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin and White.

The loans are intended to cover fixed costs such as payroll and scheduled debt payments. They are capped at $2 million with terms up to 30 years. Interest rates are 3 percent for non-profits and 4 percent for small businesses. The SBA determines the amounts and specific terms.

Falcons to take over Eggs & Enterprise

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons will "rise up!" and take over the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce's next Eggs & Enterprise breakfast event.

Jim Smith, the Falcon's chief marketing officer and SVP, will attend the Aug. 28 meeting to talk about the team's upcoming season and many community engagements.

Smith will take the place of Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy, who had a conflict come up, according to a statement from chamber president Brandon Beach.

Fulton County Cooperative Extension will sponsor a free Money Matters!: Basic Personal Finance for Aspiring Entrepreneurs  workshop on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, from 1:00pm – 4:30pm at the Northeast Spruill Oaks Library located at 9560 Spruill Road in Johns Creek, GA 30022.  Pre-registration is required by August 24.  Refreshments will be provided for registered participants.
