MILTON, Ga. -- A Michigan man has been indicted on 52 counts of first degree forgery after allegedly stealing $153,000 from his cousin and her ex-husband, who live in Milton.

On Friday, May 13, Dwight H. Windom, 29, of Westlaw, Michigan, was indicted by a grand jury.

Brad Malkin, head of the Fulton County District Attorney's Office White Collar Crime Unit, and Milton police detective Stephen Hewitt presented evidence stretching back to 2008 against the defendant.

According to police, Windom stole checks from his cousin, DeShawn Snow, and her then-husband Eric Snow, made them out to himself and cashed them.

Windom was arrested in March 2010 and charged with two counts of first degree forgery. He left jail on a $10,000 bond.

Windom will be extradited from his home state of Michigan for the trial.

ATLANTA -- A federal grand jury in Atlanta has charged a total of 13 defendants from two states with illegally trafficking in oxycodone and other prescription drugs.

The two cases arise out of intensified efforts to address Georgia's growing problem with prescription drug abuse.

"Prescription drug abuse is our nation's fastest-growing segment of illegal drug use, causing significantly more overdose deaths than cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin combined," said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.

In the first incident, 11 Georgia residents were charged with conspiring to forge oxycodone prescriptions and sell the illegally obtained tablets.

MILTON, Ga. -- Officers with the Milton Police Department arrested a Norcross man after he tried to carjack two motorists and had seven pounds of marijuana and $85,000 in his car -- all while his six-year-old son was with him.

On Tuesday, Mar. 15 at 10:21 p.m., Monroe Le-beau III, 28, was stopped for speeding on Deerfield Parkway at Fawnvista Lane.

Officers allegedly noted that Le-beau's 2007 Dodge Charger smelled of marijuana. When asked to step out of the car, Le-beau refused, citing his son as the reason.

Eventually, Le-beau left the car, but while being questioned, he began running toward the Morris Lake subdivision, leaving his child behind.

Police eventually found the suspect hiding in the back of a gold Toyota Avalon, which he had allegedly carjacked from a 40-year-old Alpharetta man.

Le-beau began to run again, this time toward Fasherstone Drive.
