Parents concerned after 4-year-old molested at Milton daycare | News
MILTON, Ga. — Concerned parents met at a Fulton County daycare on Monday after a teacher’s assistant was arrested for allegedly molesting a child. Milton Police say Bernard Benta touched a four year old inappropriately earlier this month at Bright Horizons Child Care Center.
“The bottom line is there is a lot of trust that has been breached and a lot of concerns and feelings of how do they go about earning that back,” explained parent Jonathon Ginn.
11Alive contacted Scott Bergman, the attorney representing the family of the child.
Bergman says the family of the four year old is fully cooperating with the state and law enforcement. They’re in the thick of the investigation to what happened. Bergman says he’s also a NFL agent who represents the step father of this child, who is an Atlanta sports figure.
“I would like to hear what the school has to say and the school has been silent up to this point,” Bergman said.
11Alive's Jeremy Campbell
approached the school with questions on Monday night, but we were not allowed inside the building. He asked parents if they heard what the school vowed to do to re-earn trust.
“Not in the meeting but there was a promise to put that plan in place and to me that’s acceptable because it’s real time, it’s happening right now and they need time to gather the facts,” Ginn said.
11Alive searched the state’s database and found two inspections that didn’t’ meet state requirements: one involving playground safety in 2014 and another regarding cot storage in 2015. There was nothing else in the database that raised any red flags regarding the recent allegation.
