Downtown Alpharetta Kicks Off Holiday Season

ALPHARETTA, GA -- A weekend of festivities will ring in the holiday season Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5 in downtown Alpharetta.

The fun kicks off with a Christmas Open House sponsored by the Downtown Alpharetta Trade Association on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Shoppers will enjoy refreshments, in-store specials and wonderful gift selections at all participating stores.

A special Christmas Farmer's Market will be open until 5:00 p.m.

Rivers Alive Cleans Up Milton

MILTON, GA -- Milton's "Rivers Alive" waterway cleanup, education and protection program will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Milton Grows Green Committee (MGG) is co-sponsoring the event with Bailey Farm & Gardens, Inc., which has been involved with the project for 13 years.

Rivers Alive 2010 will kick off from its traditional location at Bailey Farm & Gardens (255 Hickory Flat Road, Milton, 30004), one mile west of the Birmingham Crossroads. Everyone, regardless of age, is welcome to help.

Depending on age and capabilities, volunteers will be assigned to predetermined local waterways to remove debris deposited from upstream and left by passers-by.

City of Milton Begins Fall Paving

MILTON, GA -- Milton will begin its fall paving schedule on Monday, Sept. 27, according to Carter Lucas, Milton's director of public works.

Three roads will be affected: Hickory Flat Road from the Fulton County line to Birmingham Highway (GA 372); Thompson Road from Hopewell Road to Tabbystone Place; and Morris Road from Webb Road to McGinnis Ferry Road.

"Paving operations are expected to last approximately two weeks on each section, depending on weather," said Lucas. "The project will begin on Hickory Flat, move to Thompson and finish on Morris."

The roads will remain open during paving, but will be reduced to one travel lane.
