Milton to host $40 rain barrel workshop

MILTON, Ga. -- In conjunction with the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and Milton Grows Green, the city of Milton will host a rain barrel workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

The workshop will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will cost $40. It will be at the Bethwell Community Center.

The $40 price tag includes water conservation tips, advice on maintaining a landscape with minimal water use and, of course, the 60-gallon rain barrel that has the potential to save homeowners 1,300 gallons of water during the summer.

All rain barrels must be pre-ordered. Attendees can now pay for them online.

Meet your neighbors at the mini-grants ice cream social

MILTON, Ga. -- Milton's mini-grants initiative, called Better Together: Real Communities, will hold an ice cream social this weekend.

The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 at Scoops ice cream parlor.

It will also be the first-ever event in the mini-grants program, which provides up to $500 to community projects that engage residents and support togetherness.

The projects range from tutoring to recreational group to cultural events, according to Milton grant coordinator Amanda Quintana. All activities must involve locals who either have disabilities or are somehow excluded from typical community life.
