City of Milton Offers Fitness Camps

MILTON, GA -- The City of Milton Parks and Recreation Department has teamed with Milton-based CorePhysique to offer affordable fitness camps to residents looking for a healthier lifestyle.

The camps, offered three times a week in three separate sessions, will take place at Bell Memorial Park (15245 Bell Park Road, Milton, 30004) beginning Oct. 18. They will be taught by Kolleen Riddick, a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist.

"These camps are safe, effective and they will kick your booty," said Riddick, who is also a Milton resident and mother of three. "The first thing I do is physical assessments. I then tailor the camp to each person's specific needs, so you are not going to get hurt."

For Milton residents, the four week camps (12 full sessions) will be offered at a special rate of $90. For non-residents, the cost is $120. The price includes an informational booklet and personal fitness journal, nutrition coaching and enrollment in one of the three camps:

* Early Riser -- 5:45 a.m.
* Just Right -- 7:00 a.m.
* Late Riser -- 9:15 a.m.

Camps are limited to 30 participants per session. CorePhysique and the City of Milton are seeking to establish additional camps as demand requires.

For just $7.50 per 45-minute session, each camp includes a warm-up and workout that combines strength, cardiovascular endurance and flexibility exercises. In addition, Riddick educates participants with articles and information on fitness, health issues and more.

"In just a few short weeks, I have noticed a huge difference," said Tracey Hosmer, a previous fitness camper. "I have gotten much stronger, I am smarter about the types of food I eat, I have so much more energy and my clothes fit better."

To sign up for a fitness camp session, call 770-752-3159 or visit the CorePhysique website and click on the "Boot Camp" link.
