Milton High to Host Georgia Regional Cheerleading Competition

MILTON, GA -- Milton High School (13025 Birmingham Highway, Milton, 30004) will host all-star, collegiate, school and recreational cheerleading teams from throughout the Southeast at Coastal Cheer & Dance Events' Georgia Regional Competition.

The event will take place in the school's main gym on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Junior Tennis Carnival at White Columns

MILTON, GA -- White Columns Country Club (300 Clubhouse Drive, Milton, 30004) will hold a junior tennis carnival on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The event will take place from noon until 3:30 p.m. Children ages five to eight will play from noon until 1:30 p.m., and players up through age 13 may attend from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Times are subject to change depending on the number of participants. Players of all levels are welcome to attend.

The cost is $25 for members of the tennis academy and $30 for non-members. This fee includes pizza and soft drinks. Participants are required to sign up and send in their payment in advance.

In addition to tennis, there will be a piñata bust, music and an opportunity to hit for prizes, including hats, T-shirts, autographed tennis memorabilia and more.

The rain date for the tennis carnival is Saturday, Nov.

A Wish for Wendy to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

ALPHARETTA, GA -- Join the fun at the 11th annual Wish for Wendy Softball Challenge and Silent Auction on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The event will take place at the North Park (13450 Cogburn Road, Milton, 30004) ball fields. Proceeds will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Fans are welcome to come for the fun, sample the food and join the March to a Million to find the cure for cystic fibrosis. Softball, music and a clown for the children are just a few of the event highlights.

Silent auction items include sports memorabilia, art, gift certificates, salon services and more. Admission to the event is free.

Hopewell Youth Association Begins Spring Baseball Registration

MILTON, GA -- Online registration for Hopewell Youth Association's (HYA) spring 2011 recreational baseball season will begin on Monday, Nov. 1 on the group's website.

Based on the success and growth of HYA's baseball program, parents need to make sure they register their children as early as possible.

The registration process is split into three phases:

* Phase 1: Milton residents only
Monday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 14

* Phase 2: Milton residents and non-Milton-residing veteran HYA players
Monday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Dec. 12

* Phase 3: Open registration
Monday, Dec. 13 through Monday, Dec. 27

Late registration will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 28. A $70 late fee will be charged for any registrations after Dec. 27.

Experience the Milton Roundup

MILTON, GA -- The City of Milton will hold its 4th birthday party, the Milton Roundup, on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Birmingham United Methodist Church (15770 Birmingham Highway, Milton, 30004). Everyone is invited to let loose and have a ball.

"Come out for a great afternoon of family fun," said Milton mayor Joe Lockwood. "I always look forward to this community event and can't wait to see all my friends and neighbors enjoying themselves."

The festival will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; parking and admission are free.

2010 City of Milton Mayor's Run

MILTON, GA -- Attention all runners: the 2nd annual Milton Mayor's Run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16 at Kohl's department store (13097 Highway 9 North, Milton, 30004).

The 5K race, which starts at 8:00 a.m., will circle Deerfield Parkway, beginning and ending in the Kohl's parking lot on the Deerfield side.

According to race organizers, it is a flat, fast course that is perfect for runners looking to chalk up a good time for the Peachtree Road Race. There will also be a 1K fun run.

Cost for participation is $25, which includes plenty of food and fluids after the race and a quality, moisture-wicking event T-shirt designed by Milton resident Andrew Furman, founder and president of the Roswell-based Apparel Image.

Free Fitness Sessions Offered

MILTON, GA -- The City of Milton Parks and Recreation Department and Milton-based CorePhysique will hold free sessions on Friday, Oct. 15 for residents interested in joining the city's inaugural fitness camps.
